Haustiere is the German word for “pets,” translating literally to “house animals.” While pet fur and patterning may seem banal at first glance, the variation in texture and color is astounding when studied. The same animal may have completely different patches of fur depending on the direction of the hairs and the body-part in which the patch is located. These images attempt to bring these differences to the forefront, utilizing a macro lens and speedlight to maximize the amount of detail and color in the fur.
